Antionette D. Carroll's personal mission in life is to challenge standards, make change, and champion approaches resulting in equitable community impact. Throughout her career, she has worked in various roles supporting social justice, human rights, and diversity and inclusion. These experiences led to her background as a social entrepreneur, non-profit leader, and design activist. In addition to sharing about her journey, Carroll will introduce the principles of Equity-Centered Community Design, the award-winning creative problem-solving framework she's pioneered as Founder and CEO of nonprofit organization Creative Reaction Lab.

What are the roles of identity, power, and equity in community-centered collaboration? How might we design more equitable communities and systems through the lens of personal and organizational humility-building? In this interactive full-day workshop, participants will examine their roles as community members and organizational leaders by:
defining key terms through language setting
learning the fundamentals of the Equity-Centered Community Design framework
reflecting on history and healing to inform context
defining the power of oneself and team dynamics in supporting authentic community-led change, and
examining how to apply Equity-Centered Community Design strategies and practices to address real-world community challenges more equitably.
This workshop will also explore the reality that systems produce what they are designed to produce, and that we can and must redesign for equity and justice.
